About Us

Creation Farms and Nursery was formed by Danny Thornton, David Stevens and Adam Byllaardt in 2018. All three are born and bred in Mildura and have a passion for horticultural crops grown throughout the tri-state area.

Our Nursery Supervisor, Taj Stevens, is a 4th-generation citrus grower. Working with both hands on in the management and production of both orchards and nurseries, Taj’s passionate about potting media technology and how it assists in growing strong, faster, and healthier plants.

We currently specialise in citrus tree production, specialising in potted and ready-to-plant in field orchard trees. We employ the world’s best practices for producing trees after extensive travel and research internationally.

Creation grows sustainably using state-of-the-art fertigation technology, root and leaf biostimulation products, anti-stress foliar applications and ecologically friendly pest control methods.

  • Danny Thornton

Danny Thornton commenced working in the citrus industry out of university in 1997.

Working with both EE Muir & Sons and Mildura Fruit Company has given Danny a key insight into citrus nutrition, crop protection, postharvest decay control and packhouse operations.

A keen interest in citrus propagation over the past 5 years has culminated into the development of Creation Mildura with Datesy and Adam.

Danny is passionate about the Australian citrus industry and maintains roles with HIA and Citrus Australia.

  • David Stevens

A fourth generation grower, none come more passionate about the Australian citrus industry than David, affectionately known as Datesy.

His lifetime of experience in citrus operations started on the family farm at Ellerslie on the Darling River in NSW.

It began a genuine thirst for a deeper understanding of citrus that has taken Datesy across the globe, building relationships and sharing experiences with other likeminded citrus growers.

A commitment for growing the highest quality fruit fit for the most exacting overseas markets still drives Datesy today.

  • Adam Byllaardt

Adam is a second generation citrus grower, and represents his family interest in this partnership.

Adam has worked on the farms and packing shed since primary school and during school holidays. Adam also had a gap year working in a citrus nursery for 12 months.

Currently, Adam is doing a horticultural degree at LaTrobe University in Melbourne, and is looking forward to having a long career in horticulture.

  • Taj Stevens

    Taj Stevens

Fourth-generation citrus producer Taj grew up working on his family's citrus and nursery property, continuing a legacy started by his great-grandfather Arthur Stevens in Merbein, Victoria in 1917. Arthur Stevens was among the initial settlers, earning his living digging irrigation channels.

Over a century later, Taj pursues this heritage through a horticulture traineeship focused on citrus production.

His early career includes international experience studying citrus nursery tree production in California and active participation in local industry events.
